Budget Specialist, Workforce Solutions
The Workforce Budget Specialist will provide fiscal support to Workforce Solutions and report directly to the Workforce Operations Manager. This position provides fiscal support primarily through preparing and analyzing budget reports and tracking revenue, expenditures and balances for internal and external funds. This position provides program-level financial support by processing pay 14s, funding request forms, assisting with budget development for program managers and reviewing and approving funding for tuition, ensuring proper documentation and tracking.
This position also maintains professional communication with students, vendors, faculty, and staff, and ensures secure transmission of financial documents.
Special Assignments
- May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
KSA's/Required Qualifications
- Demonstrated ability to accurately analyze data and apply professional principles/standards for record keeping and accounting. Demonstrated knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and fund accounting to include budget/financial management practices and techniques. Working knowledge of the principles and practices of budget formulation, evaluation & execution. Skill at the advanced level using email, word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software. Microsoft Office Suite preferred.
Ability to run queries in automated accounting system-Peoplesoft preferred. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing and apply appropriate customer service techniques, use sound judgment to resolve client
-related issues. Ability to organize, key, edit and accurately proof documents to maintain accurate records. Ability to work independently and as a part of a team to achieve department goals. Ability to multitask; meet multiple deadlines t be highly organized and detail oriented. Must possess strong critical thinking skills and problem-solving skills. Must be adaptable to changing priorities/needs of the division.
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite in preparation of multiple types of correspondence, reports, databases, spreadsheets, client tracking/email, and routine office procedures. Experience in high volume, fast-paced, multiple responsibilities, with strong attention to detail.
Additional Considerations
- Experience using Peoplesoft and Modern Campus. Experience in a higher education setting.
