Under limited supervision, performs technical law enforcement work to protect lives, property and the rights of the public. Performs all patrol duties and responsibilities on assigned shift. Provides first line supervision and training to employees on assigned shift.
Three (3) years in the Senior Police Officer grade with the Suffolk Police Department by the date that the written test is administered.
Candidates must meet the following requirements at the time of application through promotion:
- Minimum of Satisfactory on each annual evaluation for the previous two (2) calendar years;
- No suspensions or demotions within the past two (2) years;
- No more than one (1) written reprimand in the past two (2) years, excluding City vehicle accidents;
- No more than two (2) preventable City vehicle accidents in the past two (2) years;
If promoted to the position, must be willing to complete the Suffolk Leadership Academy program within one year from the date of promotion.
