Successful candidate will provide instructional design and development expertise in support of the Joint Knowledge Online (JKO) website and other JS J7 training efforts by developing joint military internet-based courseware, joint references, and any other joint training and reference materials presented via the Internet. The employee will draw from sources such as military policy, joint and service doctrine, service missions, war plans, lessons learned and simulations, and joint military subject matter experts to develop these products.

Responsibilities
  • Determine course requirements and write course specifications.
  • Research content, identify imagery, write scripts and develop storyboards for web-based interactive courseware and other instructional materials.
  • Create and maintain web pages; research links and other joint and joint-related material.
  • Perform quality assurance reviews of all products and support other JST JS J7 functions as required.
Requirements
  • BA required in English, Education, Instructional Systems Design or similar majors. Master’s in similar fields is a plus. Additional experience may be substituted based upon products created and shown.
  • Minimum of 4 years in the design and development of content for computer-based and/or web-based instruction using the instructional systems development (ISD) process. JKO Government internship can sub for this requirement.
  • Strong writing skills with the ability to translate information into instructional content (desktop, mobile, SGST).
  • Strong information gathering skills including researching documents and interviewing subject matter experts.
  • Ability to translate written concepts into visual representations.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills and excellent follow-up and organizational abilities. Military leadership skills are a plus.
  • Knowledge and/or proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Access, and Excel.
  • Must have a minimum of 5 years JKO JMO experience and full working knowledge and rights to all JKO LCMS systems at the System Administrator level (preferred) or Training Coordinator level (minimum).
Clearance
  • Active Secret security clearance
Desired
  • Experience using Adobe Creative Cloud or equivalent (Macromedia Dreamweaver MX, Flash, Fireworks). Ability to convert Flash to HTML
    5. Preference for use of these tools in online courseware development.
  • Experience using JKO Course Builder as a content developer. HTML5-based desktop/mobile course development; SGST Scenario. No Flash.
  • Experience as a graphics artist is a major plus; combine ISD and graphics artistry skills when possible.
  • Knowledge of SCORM, DoD Web Policy, Mobile Code Policy, Section 508; experience in web page design and graphical user interfaces.
  • Understanding of Learning Management Systems (LMS), especially JKO LCMS and JKO Course Builder.
  • Understanding of modular design concepts, data flow, databases, and web site development/maintenance protocols.
  • Experience training military and civilian personnel via computer-based and web-based applications.
  • Experience with multimedia development software (Creative Cloud, Photoshop, Premiere, etc.), HTML/HTML5 coding, and web-based authoring (e.g., JavaScript, XML, Java Server Pages) for building web pages and interactive courseware.
