Cyber Range Engineer

As a cyber warfare engineer, you know how critical it is to stay ahead of evolving threats by identifying and exploiting vulnerabilities before adversaries can. At Booz Allen, you’ll bring that expertise to a mission‑focused team where you’ll incorporate the latest cyber methodologies and threat landscape into cyber exercise scenario and curriculum development.

As a Cyber Range Engineer, you’ll translate the client’s emerging cyberspace training requirements into operationally relevant, integrated virtual and physical cyberspace environments that support training, exercises, and mission rehearsals for defensive and offensive cyber missions. You’ll help develop engaging, hands‑on exercise scenarios; design realistic range environments; and integrate tools, scripts, and platforms used by red, blue, and white teams to align with exercise objectives.

You will also directly support exercise execution by troubleshooting technical issues, restoring environments, and adjusting range configurations in real time, and maintain cyber range virtualization infrastructure, networks, integrated hardware platforms, and supporting services.

Responsibilities
  • Translate exercise requirements into immersive, functional cyber range architectures.
  • Develop engaging, hands‑on exercise scenarios and realistic range environments.
  • Integrate tools, scripts, and platforms for red, blue, and white teams.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues and adjust range configurations during exercise execution.
  • Maintain virtualization infrastructure, networks, hardware platforms, and supporting services.
  • Advise and provide advanced technical expertise and systems integration experience.
Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience supporting cyber exercises, cyber training events, or operational test environments.
  • 3+ years of experience with penetration or red‑team testing, vulnerability analysis, and incident response.
  • Experience working with enterprise virtualization platforms, including VMware ESXi and Proxmox.
  • Experience managing containerized application environments, including deploying, managing, and troubleshooting Docker containers.
  • Experience with systems administration across Linux and Windows environments, including configuration and management of Active Directory, Domain Controllers, Exchange services, and DNS.
  • Knowledge of the U.S. Special Operations Command enterprise and Special Operations Forces mission sets, capabilities, and disciplines.
  • Knowledge of virtual networking concepts, including VLANs, routing, firewalls, and network segmentation.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time to CONUS and OCONUS locations.
  • TS/SCI clearance.
  • High school diploma or GED.
Nice to Have
  • Experience developing, modifying, and maintaining Infrastructure‑as‑Code solutions using tools such as Ansible and Terraform.
  • Experience with OT, industrial control systems, telecommunications, and other cyber‑physical systems, architectures, and protocols.
  • Experience with intelligence support to cyber operations, including all‑source processes and products.
  • Knowledge of Department of War cyberspace operations, including mission objectives, operational frameworks, and applicable defense‑sector cybersecurity practices.
  • Knowledge of military assessments, training evaluations, and after‑action reviews (AARs).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Cyber Operations or Penetration Testing.
  • Penetration‑testing or security certifications such as CEH, GPEN, GPXN, Pen Test+, or OSCP.
Clearance

Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information; TS/SCI clearance is required.

Benefits
  • Health, life, disability, financial, and retirement benefits.
  • Paid leave, professional development, tuition assistance, work‑life programs, and dependent care.
  • Recognition awards program for exceptional performance.
Compensation

Salary range: $86,800.00 to $ (annualized USD). Salary is determined by location, education, skills, and contract requirements.
