Summary HII Mission Technologies is seeking a Cloud Engineer to join our team supporting the Joint Training Synthetic Environment (JTSE) for the Joint Staff J7. In this role, you’ll design, build, and maintain secure, scalable cloud environments that support critical national defense training systems. What You Will Do
• Design, implement, and manage cloud infrastructure in AWS, Azure, or GCP
• Provision and configure compute, storage, network, and database resources
• Automate cloud deployments using Terraform, Cloud Formation, or Ansible
• Implement cloud security best practices and support vulnerability remediation
• Set up and manage monitoring using modern observability tools
• Troubleshoot cloud and infrastructure issues to ensure high availability
• Integrate cloud services with CI/CD pipelines using Git Lab and Git Lab Runners
• Develop and maintain Helm charts and container image workflows
• Manage secrets using Hashi Corp Vault
• Administer backend databases and perform data extraction/analysis
• Support multiple application deployments across diverse network environments
• Drive IaC adoption and automation for scalability and consistency
• Collaborate across engineering, operations, and security teams
• Develop clear documentation and maintain Confluence knowledge resources What You Must Have
• 5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 3 years experience with Masters in related field; 0 years experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in relate field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience.
• Strong Linux experience
• Experience building/maintaining physical and virtual servers
• Extensive Git Lab experience (branching, MRs, CI/CD pipelines)
• Experience with Helm charts, container registries, and image tagging
• Hands on experience with Hashi Corp Vault and JIRA
• Experience with backend database configuration and maintenance
• Ability to manage deployments across multiple isolated environments
• Knowledge of sizing, capacity planning, and cloud infrastructure requirements
• Strong troubleshooting skills in cloud environments
