Summary- The Publicly Available Information (PAI) / Open-Source Intelligence (OSINT) Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support the Joint Staff J-7 Deputy Directorate for Joint Training and Exercises (DDJTE) in Suffolk, Virginia. In this role, the candidate employs an understanding of how combatant commands and joint staff collect, analyze, and process publicly available information to inform and facilitate commanders' decision-making. Leveraging this expertise, the candidate designs, plans, and executes a competitive information environment for strategic- and operational-level joint training events.
The candidate also collects, evaluates, and analyzes publicly accessible digital information including social media, online forums, public records, news media, imagery, video, and other internet-based sources to identify trends, threat networks, adversary cyber personas, and activities affecting the Information Environment (IE) in support of joint training and exercises. You will also develop realistic, exercise scenario-driven PAI and social media content that replicates the commercial and civilian internet during Joint Staff and Combatant Command exercises, providing actionable intelligence, situational awareness, and decision support to exercise planners, training audiences, and senior military leaders.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate with Information Operations, Intelligence, Cyber, Space, Joint Electromagnetic Spectrum Operations (JEMSO), Operational Environment (OE), Modeling and Simulation (M&S), media, and targeting planners to ensure scenario consistency.
- Collect, exploit, evaluate, and analyze Publicly Available Information and Open-Source Intelligence from social media, online forums, public records, news sites, commercial databases, imagery, video, and other publicly accessible digital sources.
- Conduct social media exploitation, including network analysis, trend analysis, sentiment analysis, behavioral analysis, and cyber-persona evaluation.
- Identify emerging threats, adversary narratives, influence networks, coordinated information activities, and indicators of changes within the Information Environment.
- Conduct geo-enabled PAI analysis by correlating publicly available images, video, metadata, reporting, and social media activity with physical locations.
- Research and evaluate available PAI systems, platforms, technologies, commercial data sources, and analytical tools.
- Conduct structured searches within digital environments, including appropriately authorized research involving deep-web and dark-web sources.
- Develop collection requirements assessments and recommend PAI sources and collection strategies that support exercise intelligence and operational objectives.
