Purchasing Agent

- DBA IES Electrical, is seeking a Purchasing Agent in Suffolk, Virginia. The job summary includes initiating or receiving field purchase requisitions, logging and assigning purchase order numbers, routing to purchasing supervisor or project management for approval, researching vendor/supplier prices and delivery dates through written bid or verbal quote, negotiating and placing purchase orders (change orders) with selected vendors, and preparing documentation as required.
The role also involves negotiating equipment rental agreements with suppliers, documenting terms, completing insurance forms, negotiating and placing long term or "blanket" purchase orders for routine materials, administering such contracts, expediting/coordinating material deliveries, invoicing problems with accounting and vendor, quality requirements with engineering, and material identification with material control. The candidate must comply with all company and customer safety policies and procedures.
Qualifications include two years' recent electrical construction material procurement or related experience preferred, advanced knowledge of procurement/vendor inspection techniques, procedures, and working knowledge of accounting, financial management, and business contract law, proficient MS Office/EXCEL knowledge, excellent written/verbal communication and interpersonal skills, and successfully passing pre-employment (post offer) background check, drug test, and MVR check when responsibilities require operating motor vehicles.
