Sets up, runs, and monitors 1 ¼″ extrusion equipment used for the manufacture of fiber optic cable.

• Read the set‑up sheet and use the file name to determine the product to be manufactured, machine adjustments, and material requirements.
• Set up, run, and continuously monitor the 1 ¼″ extrusion line for all products.
• Observe, measure, and inspect products at various stages of the production process to ensure they meet set‑up sheet specifications.
• Accurately complete all documentation specific to this job function.
• Clean equipment to prevent contamination as required.
• Recognize various defects and problems that arise during production, assist in solving problems or notify supervisor if required, and complete non‑conformity paperwork for all defects and problems in products.
• Conduct all activities in accordance with safety procedures and guidelines.

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); six months of related experience and/or training preferred.
• Mechanical aptitude with the ability to run a machine in a production environment.
• Demonstrated ability to use tools and measuring devices properly.
• Ability to read and follow basic instructions.
• Ability to understand and implement quality procedures.
• Math and handwriting skills required and ability to correctly complete all documentation.
• Ability to work in a team environment with minimal supervision.
• Pays close attention to detail, completes assignments accurately, and recognizes and helps resolve problems.

Regularly required to stand and walk. Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. Requires sighted individual (vision corrected to 20/20) for significant reading and computer usage, including color vision. Requires normal hearing. Noise level is usually moderate. Employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals. The regular schedule for this position is 6:00 p.m. – 6:00 a.m., Monday – Thursday, with some schedule flexibility required; overtime is also available. 44 hours per week.
