General Labor/ Bagger

Hours:

6P-6A Monday-Friday Pay: $ Temp- to Perm Suffolk VA

We are seeking a reliable and hardworking General Laborer / Bagger to join our production team. In this role, you will be responsible for the end-of-line packaging, sealing, and hanging of products. You will ensure all safety, quality, and sanitation protocols are met while maintaining smooth, continuous workflow on the bagging line.

Key Responsibilities
  • Hang, attach, and fill various bag sizes (e.g., 50 lb bags, tote bags, or bulk sacks) using automated or semi-automated bagging equipment.
  • Monitor scales to ensure correct product fill weights and make basic mechanical adjustments as needed.
  • Print, verify, and apply accurate lot tags, date codes, and labels to outgoing products.
  • Stack, arrange, and secure filled bags onto pallets (palletizing) according to customer specifications.
Quality Control & Food Safety
  • Strictly adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and plant safety regulations at all times.
  • Perform routine quality checks, including magnet and metal detector verifications, to prevent product contamination.
  • Inspect incoming product flow and finished packaging for defects, tearing, or foreign materials.
  • Immediately report equipment malfunctions, packaging defects, or quality issues to the Shift Supervisor.
General Labor & Sanitation
  • Maintain a clean and organized work station, including sweeping peanut dust and hull debris, cleaning pits, and emptying trash.
  • Assist in line changeovers, sizing screen changes, and post-harvest sanitation tasks.
  • Perform general warehouse tasks, including assisting forklift operators, loading/unloading materials, and shoveling or transferring bulk peanuts when required.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Education:

    High School Diploma or GED preferred (not required for entry-level applicants).
  • Experience:

    Prior experience in manufacturing, food processing, agriculture, or warehouse environments is a plus, but entry-level candidates are welcome to apply.
  • Aptitude:
    Basic math skills for reading scale weights, lot numbers, and tracking production counts.
  • Work Ethic:
    Punctual, dependable, and able to work independently as well as part of a fast-paced production team.
