West Fraser is seeking a Planer Supervisor to lead safe, efficient operation of the planer mill in our manufacturing facility. In this role, you will supervise production crews, coordinate scheduling, and ensure quality lumber output while meeting safety, cost, and productivity targets. You will monitor equipment performance, support troubleshooting and maintenance coordination, and drive continuous improvement initiatives. The Planer Supervisor will train, coach, and evaluate team members, reinforce safety and environmental standards, and contribute to a culture of integrity, collaboration, and sustainable manufacturing.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise daily planer mill operations to meet safety, quality, and production targets
  • Lead, schedule, and coordinate planer crew activities across shifts
  • Monitor lumber quality and adjust processes to maintain product specifications
  • Collaborate with maintenance to minimize downtime and support repairs
  • Implement and enforce safety, environmental, and housekeeping standards
  • Train, coach, and evaluate team members to build skills and performance
  • Analyze production data to identify and drive continuous improvement opportunities
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and manufacturing procedures
  • Communicate production status, issues, and priorities to mill leadership
  • Support implementation of new equipment, processes, and best practices
