Position SummaryWe have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Sr. Director of Nursing
- Emergency Department. In this role, the successful candidate the Director of Nursing, Emergency Department is an integral member of the healthcare team. The Director is responsible for delivering safe, reliable and quality patient care in all areas of Emergency Department. Areas included are Main, ED, EDAU, ED Administration and ED Aftercare Program. In collaboration with physician staff and medical director is responsible for strategic development of these areas.
Ensures fiscal accountability in all areas including compliance with staffing operations. Responsible for the development, maintenance and evaluation of a work environment that supports excellent patient outcomes and professional nursing practice. Maintains collaborative interpersonal relationships and networking both intra and extra departmentally to achieve positive patient outcomes and compliance with regulatory accrediting agencies. Monitors systems/process to optimize safe and effective care and patient flow addressing barrier and identifying resources required to maintain or exceed goals.
- Plans and administers directly and through subordinate supervisory personnel, the effective management and delivery of quality patient care of all areas of responsibilities
- Assists in the development of capital and operating budgets of assigned service areas in collaboration with the Vice President, Chief Nursing Officer
- Participates in developing departmental goals, standards of care and policies and procedures
- Develops, fosters and maintains collaborative relationship with other departments and disciplines in order to ensure organizational objectives and departmental goals result in positive patient care outcome
- Provides direction and mentoring of nurse manager in developing unit specific goals and approves implementation of goals as appropriate
- Performs rounds of assigned units to assess activity, identify potential problems and formulate a plan that combines theoretical knowledge, clinical expertise and leadership ability
- Provides the leadership necessary for nurse managers to achieve their goals and succeed within the organization
- Interviews, hires, orients and oversees the training and as necessary the discipline and discharge of subordinate management personnel
- Approves recommendations of Nurse Managers and Administrative Supervisors in evaluating and disciplining employee and ensures compliance with established personnel policies
- Recommends, participates in and supports the implementation of clinical, technical, departmental and organizational change
- Serves as a resource professional to the Nurse Managers and Administrative Supervisors in resolving nursing care and management issues and assists in the removal of barriers to the delivery of quality patient care
