Position: Nurse Manager- MedSurg/Tele 4N- Full Time, Days

NYU Langone Hospital—Suffolk is a 306‑bed medical center providing care to residents of eastern Long Island. The hospital hosts the Knapp Cardiac Care Center, a modern ambulatory surgical pavilion with specialized services such as women's imaging, a sleep laboratory, and bariatric surgery. Our provisional Level 2 Trauma Center delivers comprehensive care for patients with traumatic injuries, and the Stroke Center is designated by the New York State Department of Health as a Primary Stroke Center, staffed by expert neurologists 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Additional outpatient sites include wound care, hemodialysis, and various primary care and specialty offices.

Position Summary

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Nurse Manager – Med Surg/Tele 4N‑Full Time, Days.

In this role, the successful candidate provides clinical leadership and management of designated care area(s) on a twenty‑four‑hour basis, consistent with NYU Langone Health’s philosophy, goals, and mission. The manager assumes responsibility and accountability for all facets of nursing practice and performance within the area, meeting all pertinent organizational goals and targets. The role develops, fosters, and sustains an environment of excellence in patient/family service, staff growth and development, quality nursing care, and staff engagement and satisfaction.

  • Holds self and others accountable for the delivery of exemplary, cost‑efficient care.
  • Coordinates and facilitates activities to promote service and interdisciplinary teamwork, modeling service standards in all communications.
  • Designs, implements, and evaluates programs and activities to ensure compliance with accreditation, regulatory standards, and service policies.
  • Participates in developing, approving, and implementing nursing and organizational policy, incorporating shared governance.
  • Collects, analyzes, and utilizes data to drive practice changes that integrate quality, safety, patient experience, and productivity metrics.
  • Participates in and fosters staff involvement in nursing research and evidence‑based practice.
  • Ensures staff compliance with maintaining licenses, certifications, and mandated learnings.
  • Fosters high‑reliability concepts within the unit/organizational structure.
  • Communicates with clarity and integrity to build trust with all stakeholders.
  • Leads and supports the development of new insights, innovative designs, and programs/processes.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Current Registered Professional Nurse licensure in New York State.
  • Basic Life Support Certification through the American Heart Association.
  • Master's degree in nursing required.
  • At least three years of pertinent clinical practice.
  • Certification in nursing leadership required upon eligibility.
  • Ability to apply the nursing process toward achievement of specific outcomes in an organized fashion to address patient/family satisfaction and quality indicators.
  • Excellent communication (oral and written), interpersonal, organizational, critical‑thinking, problem‑solving, and leadership skills.
