Position: Registered Nurse - Emergency Department - FT, day 7 am - 7.30 pm, Alternate Weekends

Position Title:

Registered Nurse – Emergency Department (Full Time)

NYU Langone Hospital—Suffolk is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to join our Emergency Department team. The RN will provide high‑quality, patient‑centered care in a fast‑paced environment, collaborating with the interdisciplinary team to meet the holistic needs of patients and families.

Assess patient condition, perform initial triage, and document vital data.

Implement evidence‑based nursing interventions based on the physician treatment plan.

Monitor patients continuously, adjusting care plans as needed.

Educate patients and families regarding diagnosis, treatment, and discharge instructions.

Collaborate with physicians, pharmacists, and allied health staff to coordinate patient care.

Document nursing assessments, interventions, and outcomes in the electronic health record.

Participate in quality improvement activities and unit‑level initiatives.

Provide leadership and mentorship to new staff and students during orientation.

Minimum Qualifications

BLS certification; ACLS (ICU, float pool, ED) required.
BLS, ACLS, PALS must be through AHA.
Current New York State RN license.
Ability to lift ≥75 lbs, push/pull ≥100 lbs, and bend/squat/kl climb steps/ladder.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong interpersonal skills and cultural diversity awareness.
Basic de‑escalation and conflict resolution training.
BSN preferred; critical‑care experience preferred for advanced practice roles.

Preferred Qualifications

1 year critical‑care experience.
BSN.
Certified Ambulatory Perianesthesia (CAPA) preferred.
Experience with perioperative assessment, education, and discharge planning.
Proficiency using EHR systems.

Required Licensure

Registered Nurse License – New York State.
