Position SummaryWe have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner - ICU - Part Nights - Medical Office Administration - Part. In this role, the successful candidate will contribute to the Physician Assistant Service which is dedicated to providing quality, professional, cost-effective health care to all patients at NYU Langone Hospital—Suffolk. Physician assistants (PA) practice medicine under the supervision of a licensed physician, fulfilling a broad range of medical services that would otherwise be provided by the physician.
The PA shall be permitted to provide any service within his/her scope of training/skills delegated by the supervising physician or the patient’s physician that has been approved by the Credentials Committee and is within the scope of practice of the physician. PAs provide care for in- and outpatients primarily in-house including the Emergency Department, Pre-Admission Testing, the operating room, Employee Health, Psych Care, including pediatrics.
- Introduces/identifies self as a physician assistant
- Performs initial assessment/history and physical examination
- Orders and interprets tests/results (lab, radiology, EKG, etc.) based on patient need
- Documents care in the chart in accordance with Hospital policy & procedure
- Formulates diagnoses
- Formulates and implements treatment plan
- Consults with physician when required based on patient’s condition
- Reassesses patients
- Orders, applies, removes, reapplies restraints
- Provides emergency medical care including Code 64 management
