Overview

Sentara Medical Group is seeking to hire a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our team in Suffolk, VA. This is a full‑time, day shift position with a sign‑on bonus of up to $8,000 for qualified candidates.

Responsibilities

The LPN functions under the supervision of an RN or Licensed Independent Practitioner in the clinical setting, within the scope of practice dictated by the State Boards of Nursing. The LPN demonstrates professional and clinical knowledge relative to the designated clinical practice setting in the delivery of direct patient care, adheres to the level of verified competency dictated by the site‑specific program, and works as part of a multidisciplinary team to support and communicate effectively with other licensed independent practitioners (physicians, NP, PA).

The LPN provides care and treatment for patients, offers clinical support and teaching to patients and family members, and adheres to the legal and ethical standards of nursing practice. Responsibilities include workload management with accuracy, excellent customer service, testing, medication administration, implementation of nursing interventions and care plans, and acting as a patient advocate in the prevention of illness or disease.

The LPN may work in hospitals, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, outpatient clinics, or private homes.

Education
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required
  • Trade School Graduate – Licensed Practical Nurse required
Certification / Licensure
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification within 90 days of hire required
  • Valid LPN license in state(s) of practice required
Experience
  • Triaging, verifying medical information, caring for the patient's overall health, and working closely with the doctors and other team members preferred
  • Experience in a hospital, home health, hospice, or our medical group preferred
