Registered Nurse; RN Telemetry Med-Surg

Overview

Sentara Obici Hospital is hiring a Registered Nurse for the 2 South – Telemetry Med‑Surg unit. This full‑time night shift position in Suffolk, VA has hours of 7 pm to 7 am with a rotating weekend schedule. A sign‑on bonus of up to $20,000 is available for qualified candidates. The RN will provide nursing care in the 25‑bed Acute Cardiac/Stroke Unit, caring for patients with cardiac conditions, post‑procedural neuro cases, and pre/post catheterization.

The unit sees an acuity higher than a typical medical‑surgical unit and will soon transition to a Cardiac PCU step‑down. Sentara Obici is a certified stroke center and Magnet hospital, offering a collaborative environment for nursing excellence.

The Registered Nurse is responsible for competent nursing care demonstrated by the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care, teaching, health promotion, and evaluation. The RN must uphold professional performance standards—including ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence‑based practice, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health.

• Degree or diploma from an accredited registered nursing program.
• BSN or MSN preferred.
• Students completing an accredited nursing program accepted.
• Registered Nursing License (students in process of obtaining license accepted).
• BLS within 90 days of hire.
• Critical Care/IMCU ACLS within 1 year of hire.
• NIH within 1 year of hire.
• Acute care nursing experience preferred.
• Background in Stroke or Telemetry preferred; none required.
