Sentara Obici Hospital is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Ortho/Spine/Bariatrics Unit.

Sign on bonus: up to $20,000 available for qualified candidates on nights, and $7,500 available for new graduates.

The 1 East Surgery Unit is a 24‑bed unit specializing in orthopedics, spine, and bariatrics, providing high‑quality short‑stay care. The RN staff can expect a 1:5 or 1:6 patient ratio and an average of 6‑8 patient discharges per shift. The unit also sees high acuity surgical patients from endoscopy, general surgery, and GI. The environment is fast‑paced and staffed with patient care technicians, unit coordinators, and experienced preceptors to foster learning and professional growth.

The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for delivering competent nursing care based on the nursing process—assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care—along with teaching, health promotion, and evaluation. The RN upholds standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, coordination of care, teaching, health promotion, evaluation) and professional performance (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence‑based practice, nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, environmental health).

• Degree or Diploma in Registered Nursing (required)
• Student in process of obtaining degree in Registered Nursing
• Bachelor of Science Nursing (BSN) or Master of Science Nursing (MSN) preferred

• Registered Nursing License (required)
• Student in progress of obtaining licensure
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 90 days of hire

• 1 year of acute care nursing experience preferred
• No experience required – new graduates welcome
• Previous experience in GI, Endoscopy, Surgical, step‑down, or pre/post preferred
