Overview
Sentara Belle Harbour Emergency Department (ED) in Suffolk, VA, is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) to join our fast‑paced, team‑centered emergency department. The role offers a dynamic environment with 22 treatment spaces, including fast‑track, focused care, and high‑acuity care rooms. Nurses provide care for adult and pediatric patients and support both patients and staff in a collaborative, technology‑enabled setting. Sign‑on bonus available up to $20,000 for qualified candidates, and new graduate sign‑on of $7,500.

Work Hours & ShiftsMultiple shifts are available:
- Full Time 7 a.m. – 7 p.m.
- Full Time 9 a.m. – 9 p.m.
- Full Time 7 p.m. – 7 a.m.
Weekend requirement:
Every third weekend. Call requirement:
Full‑time nurses have 24 hours of required call per six weeks; part‑time nurses have 12 hours.
Experienced RN orientation period: 10 weeks on the unit.
ResponsibilitiesThe RN will provide competent nursing care following the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination, health promotion, and evaluation). Standards include professional performance in ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence‑based practice, quality, resource utilization, and environmental health. Nurses will use critical thinking and clinical knowledge to manage a variety of acute care scenarios within the ED.
Education- Degree or Diploma in Registered Nursing (required)
- Bachelor of Science Nursing (BSN) or Master of Science Nursing (MSN) – preferred
- Registered Nursing license (required)
- ACLS – required before completion of orientation
- PALS – required before completion of orientation
- BLS – required within 90 days of hire
- 2 years of Emergency Room experience – preferred
- Critical care experience in hospital – preferred
- 2 years of acute care RN experience – preferred
