Overview
The Center of Veterinary Expertise (The COVE), is an emergency and specialty facility dedicated to providing world-class emergency and board-certified specialty care for animals. Serving all of Hampton Roads and the surrounding areas, The COVE combines progressive medicine and outstanding personalized service to deliver exceptional care. The facility spans over 5,000 square feet of custom-built space, offering specialized services in Cardiology, Emergency/Critical Care, Surgery, and advanced Dentistry and Oral Surgery.
Appointments for specialty services are accepted via referral from primary care veterinarians, while emergency services are available on a walk-in basis.
This is a full-time on-site Veterinarian role located in Suffolk, VA, responsible for taking over an established dentistry service at The COVE. The Veterinarian will lead and perform routine and advanced dental procedures, including oral surgery, while collaborating with other specialists and support staff. Responsibilities include diagnosing and treating dental conditions, developing tailored treatment plans, managing post-operative care, and consulting with referring veterinarians.
Additional duties may involve participating in educational outreach and contributing to the development of practice standards.
- Strong expertise in Veterinary Dentistry and Oral Surgery, including advanced diagnostic and surgical skills.
- Ability to create comprehensive treatment plans, manage post-operative care, and consult with referring veterinarians effectively.
- Experience in collaborating with specialty teams, emergency care providers, and support staff to ensure high-quality patient outcomes.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills for effectively interacting with pet owners, colleagues, and referring veterinarians.
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM or VMD) degree and current licensure to practice in Virginia.
- Board certification or eligibility in Veterinary Dentistry is highly preferred.
- Compassionate and detail-oriented approach to patient and client care.
