Armed Security Officer- Part time

Overview

Sentara Obici Hospital, located in Suffolk, VA, is hiring a Part‑Time Armed Security Officer for rotating shifts.

As an Armed Security Officer with Sentara, you will ensure a physically safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, and employees. Primary duties include actively patrolling campuses, monitoring activity in and around buildings, responding appropriately to routine and emergent situations, documenting daily activities via computer, conducting investigations, evaluating situations, and taking appropriate steps for resolution.

The Senior Armed Security Officer also actively monitors the Concealed Weapons Detection System at division entrances. In the event a weapon is found, the armed officer informs the visitor/patient that the weapon is not allowed in the hospital, may secure the weapon for the duration of the visit, and continues patrol and surveillance duties.

• Fit for Duty assessment to ensure minimum fitness standard.
• Pass the Psychological Evaluation and Assessment conducted by a Sentara‑selected Service Provider.
• Obtain a Virginia DCJS Armed Officer Certificate within 90 days of hire.
