Forklift and Heavy equipment mechanic

We are seeking an experienced Forklift and Heavy Equipment Field Service Mechanic to perform on-site repairs and maintenance at industrial worksites throughout the Hampton Roads area. This role focuses on diagnosing and repairing material handling and heavy industrial equipment to keep customer operations running safely and efficiently.

Technicians will service equipment from major manufacturers including Sennebogen, JLG, Hyster, Kone, Toyota, John Deere, CAT (Caterpillar), Volvo, and Clark.

This is a field-based role ideal for mechanics who enjoy hands-on troubleshooting, working independently, and providing direct customer support.

• Perform on-site diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repair of forklifts and heavy equipment

• Service hydraulic systems, mechanical components, and diesel-powered equipment

• Conduct inspections, preventive maintenance, and emergency repairs

• Assemble and inspect equipment upon delivery when needed

• Interpret service manuals, parts diagrams, and hydraulic schematics

• Communicate with customers regarding equipment condition and repair needs

• Accurately document labor, parts, and service reports for billing and warranty

• Maintain safe work practices and follow all site safety requirements

• Proven experience as a forklift mechanic, heavy equipment mechanic, or field service technician

• Strong working knowledge of hydraulic systems (required)

• Mechanical and diesel troubleshooting experience

• Ability to work independently in industrial environments

• Good driving record and ability to travel to customer sites

• Reliable, professional attitude with strong customer service skills

• Commitment to safety and quality workmanship

• Experience with multiple equipment brands and models

• Electrical troubleshooting experience

• Welding or fabrication experience

• Prior work in shipyards, ports, manufacturing, or construction environments

• Consistent field service work with established industrial clients
