Maintenance Technician (Commercial Experience Needed)
Location: Suffolk, VA
Pay: $27–$30/hr
Shift: 1st Shift, Monday–Thursday, 7:00am–5:30pm (4x10 schedule), on-call as needed

A facility in Suffolk, VA is seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician to support daily operations and contribute to a well‑maintained, professional work environment. The technician will collaborate closely with site leadership to complete preventative maintenance, oversee general facility repairs, and support occasional project‑based work.
Applicants should be comfortable working independently, interacting with clients and contractors, and handling a wide range of building maintenance tasks. Experience with woodworking tools and the ability to build small custom items—such as platforms, frames, or crates—is a plus. Strong communication skills and a customer‑focused approach are essential.
Duties & Responsibilities- Communicate daily with site management to understand service needs and provide status updates.
- Coordinate and oversee subcontractors performing work on‑site when required.
- Follow and maintain preventative maintenance schedules.
- Perform general corrective maintenance, including:
- Wall, floor, and door repairs
- Interior painting and touch‑ups
- Basic carpentry tasks
- Diagnose and repair plumbing issues such as clogged fixtures, valve assemblies, sensors for automated flush systems, and other facility‑related plumbing needs.
- Conduct routine exterior inspections, addressing landscaping touch‑ups, debris removal, parking area checks, lighting checks, and other outdoor maintenance tasks.
- Repair or adjust cabinetry, doors, closures, and flooring; replace carpet tiles as needed.
- Build small wood structures or custom items as necessary (e.g., platforms, equipment frames, crates).
- Attend weekly safety meetings and follow all safety policies and required PPE guidelines.
- Complete required training modules and maintain compliance with safety and operational standards.
- Support secondary responsibilities such as:
- Assisting with daily facility operations
- Interacting directly with the client and responding to requests
- Making adjustments to building automation systems
- Identifying and addressing ongoing maintenance needs
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 3–5 years of hands‑on facility maintenance experience.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to perform general interior and exterior repairs, including wall repair, flooring, door hardware adjustments, and painting.
- Valid U.S. driver’s license.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain or maintain a federal security clearance (Secret level).
- Experience with woodworking tools and small fabrication tasks is preferred.
