Utility Trades Technician shall self-perform technical and non-technical routine maintenance and preventative maintenance on the physical plant, and provide the campus with electrical, plumbing, and carpentry repairs as required.
This position has been designated an essential position. The employee filling this position may be required to report to work or otherwise fulfill the responsibilities of the position in the event of a college / campus closure due to weather or other emergent conditions.
Special AssignmentsMay be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
Qualifications- The Utility Trades worker shall have the knowledge of and skill in performing basic electric repairs in accordance with applicable code.
- Knowledge of National Electric Code applications.
- Knowledge of and skill in drywall and acoustic tile repair procedures, surface preparation, and painting.
- Knowledge of and skill in performing basic plumbing and HVAC repairs.
- Knowledge of and skill in performing basic construction.
- Knowledge of and ability to interpret sketches, diagrams and plans.
- Skilled in the use of basic hand tools (hammer, saw, screwdriver, wrenches) and electric drills.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. climb ladders, bend and stoop.
- Journeyman’s license in any of the building maintenance trades
