Position Summary
The Field Service Technician is responsible for the repair, overhaul, testing, installation, and maintenance of low-, medium-, and high-voltage power transformers and related electrical equipment. This role performs both shop-based and field service work, supporting customer facilities throughout the Northeast region. The ideal candidate is a hands‑on electrical professional with strong transformer experience, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work independently or lead field crews.
Key Responsibilities- Perform repairs, upgrades, maintenance, and overhauls on power transformers ranging from 480V to 765kV.
- Support field testing, troubleshooting, commissioning, and maintenance of electrical power distribution equipment.
- Lead or assist with transformer installations, inspections, and outage‑related projects.
- Interpret electrical drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Communicate effectively with customers and internal teams to resolve technical issues and ensure successful project execution.
- Complete service reports and maintain accurate project documentation.
- Adhere to all safety, quality, and operational procedures.
- High School Diploma or GED required;
Associate degree in Electrical Technology or related field preferred. - Minimum 5 years of hands‑on experience in transformer installation, maintenance, testing, and repair.
- 3–5 years of experience in a lead technician, crew lead, or supervisory role preferred.
- Strong knowledge of electrical power systems and transformer operations.
- Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to travel overnight as needed and work overtime and weekends during outage seasons.
