The Mitigation Technician is a full-time, on-site role based in Suffolk, VA. This role involves responding to residential and commercial property damage events, including water, fire, mold, and storm losses, and performing cleanup, drying, and restoration tasks in accordance with SERVPRO standards. Day-to-day responsibilities include setting up and monitoring drying equipment, removing affected materials, performing cleaning and deodorization, documenting work performed, and maintaining safety and cleanliness on job sites.
The Mitigation Technician will interact with customers and teammates, provide clear updates on project progress, and ensure that all work is completed efficiently, safely, and with a high level of customer satisfaction. The role may require flexible hours, including some evenings, weekends, and on-call shifts, depending on emergency response needs.
- Ability to perform physical work, including lifting, carrying equipment, standing for extended periods, and working in a variety of residential and commercial environments.
- Strong attention to detail and basic documentation skills for recording job notes, photos, and equipment usage.
- Effective communication and customer service skills to interact professionally with property owners, managers, and insurance representatives.
- Basic mechanical or technical aptitude for operating and maintaining restoration equipment such as dehumidifiers, air movers, and cleaning tools.
- Commitment to safety practices, including proper use of personal protective equipment and adherence to OSHA and company guidelines.
- Ability to work as part of a team, follow instructions, and adapt to changing job conditions and schedules.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and reliable transportation.
- High school diploma or equivalent; prior experience in restoration, construction, cleaning, or a related field is preferred but not required.
- Willingness to participate in training and obtain industry certifications (e.g., IICRC) as supported by the company.
