Position: Direct Support Professional DSP-ESD-0002

PORTCO, Inc is a non-stock, non-profit, 501(C) (3) corporation located in Suffolk, Virginia. PORTCO was founded in 1991 as an Employment Service Organization to provide transitional, supported employment and vocational services to individuals with disabilities who could not otherwise find and maintain competitive employment on their own.

Main Function
  • Provide input and assist Program Director in planning and evaluating the program and participant's goals.
  • Assist all staff and substitute for DSP as needed in special situations.
  • Assist in the implementation of individual planned program goals for each participant.
  • Train and assist participants with job tasks at any and all work or community sites and assist with contract support operations.
  • Maintain and document records of participant accidents/incidents as required. Efficiently and professionally compose and maintain daily progress notes of any and all participants assigned. Documentation MUST meet DMAS/DBHDS standards.
  • Notify Program Administrator of concerns/issues regarding participants or maintenance and repairs in the facility.
  • Participate in scheduled staff meetings and other meetings as assigned.
  • Assist all participants in being actively involved in the daily activities to achieve greater independence using person-centered planning and self-determination.
  • Maintain and submit all required records and reports.
  • Transport, accompany and supervise participants for scheduled work sites or other activities
  • Provide for the safety and well-being of each participant during service hours
  • Supervise participant lunch period. Oversee arrivals and departures of participants.
  • Establish and maintain rapport with other service staff involved in the support of participants.
  • Working with 2-3 individuals with  DD
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and meet company insurance eligibility requirements for job-related driving.
