Job Description & How to Apply Below

We are a small but talented growing team of 25 what we like to call "humble ass kickers" — hardworking folks who value communication, technical prowess, and authenticity. Our founders are engineers, and we come from a variety of backgrounds. We’re committed to fostering an inclusive culture where everyone is seen and heard, helping us all contribute meaningfully to the work we do for our customers.

Olio Apps is based in the Pacific Northwest, but we’re a fully remote team. Our projects run the gamut of web apps, native mobile apps, web service backends, experimental prototypes, with a growing focus on serverless infrastructure.

What You’ll Do
  • Ship!
  • Make clients happy with autonomy and responsibility to ship your best work.
  • Talk directly with customers, make decisions about the best way to proceed, and collaborate with the team.
  • Work with all kinds of varied technologies, both exciting and boring.
  • AWS services (S3, Lambda, Cognito, IAM, SSM, Serverless, SQS, Event Bridge, VPC, Cloud Formation) to build robust backend solutions.
  • Comfort working independently, setting your own direction, and following through to measurable customer impact.
  • Effective and proactive communicator with a strong growth mindset.
  • High proficiency with Type Script.
  • Demonstrated experience with React.js on the web.
  • Proficiency in modern web development technologies and techniques, including HTTP APIs, Graph

QL, CSS frameworks (MUI, Tailwind), and testing.
  • 3+ years of experience in active software development.
  • A favorite AI assistant, whether that be Claude, Codex, Gemini, or others.
Benefits & Logistics
  • Full-time, fully remote role (U.S. based).
  • 15 days paid time off (PTO) per calendar year.
  • Additional team-wide week of PTO between Christmas and New Year’s.
  • Paid sick leave (1 hour earned per 30 hours worked).
  • 9 paid U.S. holidays per calendar year.
  • 401(k) retirement savings plan.
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance coverage.
  • Show us your work. Walk us through something you’ve delivered: the problem, your role, key decisions, trade-offs, and what you learned.
  • If you don’t have public work to share, complete our take-home coding challenge and send it over.
  • Interview with our lead developer. We’ll review your materials and schedule an interview where you guide us through your code: architecture, decision-making, risks, etc.
  • Offer. If the stars align and we think you’d make a good fit, we’ll move quickly to give you an offer and even quicker to welcome you to the team.

We want to see what you can do, how you can help our clients, and how you can improve our team. Include links to shipped products, code you're proud of, open source projects, or git repos that showcase your work.

Remember: throughout the process we look for those who default to action and iterate in the open.
