Up to $10,000 sign‑on bonus for new Logistics Driver hires. Bonuses are paid in two equal installments at 90 days and 180 days of employment.

Carter Machinery Company, the authorized Caterpillar dealer serving Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, and Washington D.C., is hiring a Logistics Driver in Suffolk, Virginia. The Logistics Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of industrial/commercial parts and construction equipment to customer locations and Carter Machinery branches over established routes. Candidates must have a minimum of two years of CDL driving experience, including heavy‑haul and tractor/lowboy driving;

a valid CDL A license is required. A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.

• Thorough knowledge of DOT and company safety standards and regulations.
• Excellent driving record.
• Capability to operate a 5 or 6 axle configuration truck.
• Ability to conduct inspections to ensure trucks are in good working order.
• Skill in securing cargo using chains and/or binders to meet local, state, and federal regulations.
• Mechanical aptitude with ability to perform basic truck maintenance tasks.
• Professional interaction with customers and all levels of personnel within the organization.
• Ability to manage speed and tight deadlines.
• Knowledge of rental, construction, and generator equipment and ability to operate, demonstrate, and instruct proper equipment operation.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Effective communication skills.
• Capability to operate a forklift.
• Willingness to work additional hours as required by job and customer demand.

Physical requirements for the Logistics Driver position include frequent sitting for extended periods, frequent lifting of up to 50 pounds (occasionally up to 75 pounds), frequent use of hands to handle, reach, climb, or balance, and the ability to speak and hear. Vision requirements include close, distance, peripheral, and depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
