Truck Driver CDL B Local On Call

Position Description

Ryder is hiring an On Call Class B CDL Truck Driver in Suffolk, VA. Weekly pay, hourly rate of $29.00, and a driving career you can feel good about.

Hourly Pay: $29.00 per hour
Hours per week vary based on coverage needed
Paid training
Vehicle: 26' straight truck
Route: local home daily within VA, possibly NC and SC
Equipment: electric/manual pallet jack, hand truck, lift gate
Freight: touch cable equipment, white glove service

Schedule:

start 5:00 AM - 8:00 AM; hours not guaranteed, work based on business needs

• Ensure compliance with applicable federal and state laws, regulations, and agency rules
• Detect and eliminate safety hazards
• Maintain accurate records and logs
• Load/unload freight or assist in loading/unloading per customer request
• Perform other duties as assigned

• Minimum 21 years of age
• Pass Ryder drug test
• Pass Ryder background and motor vehicle check, including drug/alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years
• Pass DOT physical
• Pass Ryder road test
• Provide appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position
• Must have Class A or Class B verified experience: 9 months within past 3 years, or 2 years within last 5 years, or 5 years within last 10 years
• Ability to follow written and/or oral instructions
• Ability to read, interpret and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies and/or procedures
