The Children's Center Head Start/Early Head Start is a federally funded program that provides no cost services to qualifying families who reside in the community. Comprehensive services are provided to pregnant women and their partners and children from birth to 5. Child development, health and family services are provided through a variety of program options designed to meet the needs of low-income and at-risk families.
Aboutthe Job
The Children’s Center is looking for highly motivated individuals to join our transportation team! As part of our education team, our bus drivers ensure our busses are a safe, positive, and nurturing place for children to get to and from our schools.
Key Responsibilities- Have knowledge about federal, state, local, or Tribal transportation requirements. Further, they should know the geographic locale and, whenever possible, the language spoken by the families served.
- Have skills and abilities to problem solve and provide leadership whenever an emergency situation occurs.
- Ensure all Virginia Licensing and Head Start/Early Head Start regulations are followed to ensure child safety.
- Communicate directly with parents to build healthy partnerships that promote the child’s success and healthy development.
- Stay dedicated to our mission in order to build an educational foundation for each child to grow cognitively, emotionally, and physically each day.
- Have prior experience safely transporting children
- Have CPR/First Aid training
- Flexibility with work hours and scheduling
- Positive attitude and strong work ethic
Pay rate: $20.07/hourly
- Must hold a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with an "S" endorsement in those states conferring such licenses
- 1-3 years of experience working as a bus driver or in the transportation field
- High School Diploma
- Ability to lift 50 pounds
Pay rate: $16.56/hourly

- 1-3 years of experience working as a bus driver or in the transportation field
- High School Diploma
- Ability to lift 50 pounds
