Forklift Operator; Receiving
Job Summary
Operates a forklift and other material handling equipment in the receipt, warehousing and shipping of stock and supplies.
Responsibilities- Operates a forklift capable of lifting up to 10,000 pounds and raising up to 168 inches to move, load or unload, transfer, transport, stack or unstack palletized goods, boxes, crates, merchandise, materials and supplies from one location to another.
- Selects for shipment or transfer designated stock by locating stock, verifying information on shipping or transferring documents against stock tags or bin bags, and determining items to be removed from a stack or bin.
- Moves items to designated locations and receives merchandise, supplies and equipment from vendors by unloading trucks, vans, freight cars; checks items against receiving documents and notes discrepancies to the supervisor.
- Places identified stock in appropriate storage locations according to instructions and established methods; may sign for merchandise received.
- Restacks and straightens warehouse items, sorts bad containers, and checks bays/bins for mixed stock or incorrect locations; corrects or notifies supervisor of problems.
- Helps in inventory counts by determining quantities on hand.
- May operate the forklift to load vans for shipment overseas, including checking, weighing, arranging and selecting merchandise following established procedures.
- Works under the general supervision of a designated supervisor; work is checked during and after completion for compliance with instructions.

Qualifications- General
Experience:
One year of warehousing related duties such as receiving, storing, issuing, shipping, and operation of manual material movement equipment, or similar work that provides the knowledge and skills to perform the duties of the position. - Education Substitution: One year of high school education may be substituted for 3 months of general experience, up to a High School Diploma or GED for one year of general experience.

Experience:
One year of experience including work that demonstrates the ability to operate a forklift and other material handling equipment in the receipt, warehousing and shipping of stock and supplies.
Uses moderate physical effort while performing the various maneuvers involved in the operation of the forklift truck. Performs work on hard surfaces that require standing, stooping and bending in a tiring and uncomfortable position. May lift and carry objects weighing up to 100 pounds with assistance.
Working ConditionsNormally works inside and outside in cold, damp, drafty and hot areas. Is subject to injury from falling objects, collisions, shifting loads and overturning of the truck.
Training RequirementHazardous Materials (Haz Mat) training within 90 days of hire per Department of Transportation regulations.
