Workforce Trainers provide skills‑based training and experiences in a traditional or non‑traditional classroom setting and/or lab environment. The instruction is tailored for participants enrolled in Workforce Education offerings across the career continuum, including career starters, career changes, and those seeking career advancement. Trainers must use various teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles and levels of experience and be comfortable with one‑on‑one mentorship and support.

This role involves conducting hands‑on training and evaluating student performance to ensure they meet industry standards. In addition, Trainers collaborate with employers to deliver customized training solutions and conduct training needs assessments using various techniques. They conduct interactive and engaging training for individuals, groups, and companies using appropriate and effective alternative and non‑traditional methodologies. In partnership with the Workforce Education Program Manager, Trainers prepare and/or select education materials, assist in development and evaluation of new curricula and program designs, and collaborate with industry partners to align training with current workforce needs.

Instructors must be proficient with technology as e‑curriculum will be incorporated, and be comfortable with tabletop trainers to demonstrate hands‑on exercises. Instructors recommend updates to training materials to reflect current industry practices and technological advancements.

The ideal candidate will have competencies in the following: schematics, ladder diagrams, troubleshooting manufacturing equipment, demonstrating training techniques, pneumatics, hydraulics, mechanical and electrical systems, safety principles, and familiarity with predictive maintenance.
