LHH is seeking a highly skilled Senior Controls Engineer to play a key role in designing, implementing, and optimizing manufacturing processes and equipment. This role supports a diverse manufacturing environment that includes stamping and punch presses, lasers, conveyance systems, robotics, and automation. The ideal candidate will provide hands-on technical support to production, lead new product process introductions, and manage capital equipment projects.
The anticipated salary for this role is between $110,000-$135,000 a year.
- Evaluate and develop the most efficient manufacturing methods to optimize productivity, cost, and quality
- Design, program, edit, and troubleshoot PLC, PMC, and TP programs
- Support electrical and control system issues across production equipment
- Design and modify electrical schematics for machine upgrades and custom modifications
- Design, build, document, and assemble custom automation solutions and manufacturing equipment
- Support production and assembly teams with machine build, wiring, testing, and commissioning
- Develop and validate tooling, fixturing, work holding, and material handling solutions
- Provide onsite and remote technical support to production and maintenance teams
- Lead and oversee modifications to control systems and automation platforms
- Create control panel layouts, electrical diagrams, and system documentation
- Partner with maintenance to ensure reliability and functionality of mechanical equipment
- Design production layouts, select equipment, and develop new manufacturing processes that balance cost, quality, and efficiency
- Analyze existing processes and implement improvements to reduce waste and increase throughput
- Implement and maintain safety and quality standards across manufacturing operations
- Specify electrical and mechanical components for machines, equipment, and control systems
- Develop, test, and document manufacturing methods and technical specifications
- Train and support plant personnel on new equipment, tooling, and processes
- Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
- 10+ years of manufacturing engineering experience, including equipment, tooling, and fixture design
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and AutoCAD
- Strong mechanical aptitude with proven troubleshooting and design capabilities
- Extensive experience with 3D CAD design tools
- Hands-on experience with CNC machines, punch presses, fiber lasers, robotics, welding, and automation systems
- Equipment programming experience (lasers, robots, sensors, PLCs) preferred
- Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, and Six Sigma methodologies
- Experience with facility layout, process design, PFMEA, and DOE
- Ability to communicate effectively at all organizational levels, from the shop floor to executive leadership
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage projects to completion
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a creative, solutions-driven mindset
- Willingness to travel up to 10% as needed
