Manufacturing Engineer, Quality Engineering, Lean Manufacturing / Six Sigma, Operations Engineer
LHH is seeking a Lead Manufacturing Engineer to provide technical leadership and strategic direction for programming functions across multiple production facilities. This role plays a key part in improving manufacturing efficiency, standardizing CNC programming practices, and supporting automation and capital investment initiatives. This opportunity is ideal for a hands-on CNC programming professional who enjoys mentoring others and influencing manufacturing strategy at a broader operational level.
The anticipated salary for this role is between $90,000-$120,000 a year.
Responsibilities:
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to a team of CNC programmers supporting multiple manufacturing locations
- Develop, implement, and maintain standardized programming procedures, documentation, and best practices
- Oversee CNC programming activities to ensure accuracy, efficiency, safety, and repeatability
- Support new equipment launches, automation efforts, and capital improvement projects
- Collaborate with engineering, operations, and maintenance teams to resolve production and design challenges
- Manage CNC program version control, post-processors, and toolpath optimization
- Ensure compliance with applicable safety, quality, and regulatory standards
- Translate 2D and 3D engineering data into machine-ready programs for cutting and routing equipment
- Review and improve existing programs to enhance throughput, accuracy, and material utilization
- Maintain organized CNC program libraries and technical documentation
- Assist with training operators and programmers on new equipment, software, and processes
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, and productivity
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering (or equivalent experience)
- 3+ years of CNC programming experience in a manufacturing environment
- Familiarity with Six Sigma, FMEA, DFA, DOE, or related methodologies
- Demonstrated experience programming 3-axis and 5-axis CNC equipment
- Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, CAD models, and technical drawings
- Proficiency with CAD/CAM software (AutoCAD required; nesting or advanced CAM tools preferred)
- Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to manage changing priorities in a dynamic manufacturing environment
- Solid understanding of manufacturing safety requirements and operational best practices
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools
