Experience:

REQUIRED:

2+ years of accounting experience within a Credit Union or Financial Institution / Bank. (General corporate accounting backgrounds cannot be considered due to NCUA regulatory requirements).

Leadership: 1+ years of supervisory or team lead experience overseeing GL, AP/AR, or junior accounting staff.

Technical

Skills:

Strong proficiency in GAAP, General Ledger operations, month-end close, and familiarity with NCUA Call Report filings (Form 5300) or FDIC equivalent.

Background Requirement:
Must be able to pass a standard financial institution Credit Check (no bankruptcies or accounts currently in collections).

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. The Credit Union does not now, nor will it in the future, offer sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B, TN, or OPT) for this position.

Step into a pivotal role where you will lead the accounting operations, driving financial accuracy, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency. As a key leader, you will directly influence the financial strength and strategic direction of the organization, ensuring robust internal controls and providing essential insights that support sound decision-making and foster continued growth. Your expertise will be critical in maintaining the integrity of financial reporting and optimizing processes to enhance overall organizational performance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and supervise accounting staff, including hiring, training, performance evaluations, and workflow oversight.
  • Oversee daily operations of the accounting department, including general ledger activities, account reconciliations, accruals, and month-end close processes.
  • Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with GAAP and financial institution regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure accuracy of regulatory filings.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor internal accounting controls and procedures.
  • Assist with internal audits, external audits, and regulatory examinations.
  • Prepare reports for senior management as needed.
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting systems, automation, and processes.
Must-Have Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of progressive accounting experience within a financial institution.
  • 1+ years of supervisory experience managing teams.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial institution accounting, and internal controls.
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with accounting or core processing systems.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Integrity and confidentiality with financial data.
  • Problem-solving and process improvement mindset.
  • Clear communication with executives, regulators, auditors, and staff.
  • Credit check required.
Nice-to-Have Qualifications
  • Familiarity with financial institution regulations and Call Report preparation.
Compensation

The target hiring compensation range for this role is $70,000.

Compensation is based on several factors including, but not limited to education, relevant work experience, relevant certifications, and location.
