IES Residential, Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive In-House Contracts Paralegal to support our Legal Department and internal teams in Sugar Land, TX. In this role, you will serve as a key coordinator between our Legal Department, Division Managers, Accounting, Executives, and other departments to ensure contract processes are handled efficiently and deadlines are met.

The ideal candidate is a self-starter who is highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to prioritize tasks while working independently. This individual should maintain a professional, friendly demeanor and demonstrate strong communication skills when collaborating with internal teams and external partners.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with reviewing and editing agreements and contract documents.
  • Identify legal processing issues and escalate them to appropriate internal and external parties when necessary.
  • Create, organize, and update files; scan, mail, and maintain document records to ensure contracts are properly filed and processed.
  • Communicate with Division Managers and contracting parties via telephone, email, and mail as needed.
  • Update files with documents, notes, and communications in accordance with company standards.
  • Track key dates, deadlines, and contractual obligations to ensure compliance and timely completion.
  • Support the Legal Department and other teams with administrative and coordination tasks.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in document review, drafting, and data management.
  • Ability to synthesize complex information into clear, concise summaries.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Ability to identify issues requiring escalation and exercise sound judgment.
  • Strong organizational and document management skills.
  • Able to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Proficient in Adobe Acrobat.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and job-specific software and programs.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment screenings such as background and motor vehicle record checks.
  • English speaking, reading, and writing preferred, and required where necessary to perform job duties.
  • Maintain professionalism and a positive, respectful demeanor with customers, coworkers, and business partners.
Education/Experience
  • Experience in contract administration, legal support, construction administration, procurement support, or a related role preferred.
  • Experience in a construction, engineering, real estate development, or similar project-based environment preferred.
  • Experience supporting a legal department, contracts team, or corporate compliance function preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience may be considered.
  • High school diploma or GED required; associate’s degree in business administration, legal studies, paralegal studies, construction administration, or a related field required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Relevant industry certifications or licenses preferred, and required where necessary to perform job duties.
Physical Requirements
  • Work in a typical office environment, sitting at a desk and performing prolonged computer work, with occasional standing, walking, bending, and reaching.
