Teacher CTE Cosmetology

Job Overview

The Teacher CTE Cosmetology will plan and implement an instructional program and provide related educational services for students in assigned grade levels. The incumbent will manage student behavior, assess and evaluate student achievement, and modify/control instructional activities as required. Instructional delivery will provide students with real-world experiences relevant to the industry today.

• Assess student abilities as related to desired educational goals, objectives, and outcomes and provide instruction to grow student abilities
• Maintain appropriate assessment and evaluation documentation for institutional and individual reporting purposes
• Plan appropriate instructional/learning strategies and activities including determination of appropriate level of materials
• Implement an instructional program which provides appropriate learning experiences, considering different learning styles and a range of learning curves
• Assist and participate in the management of student behavior in instructional settings, including school grounds, centers, and work sites, to ensure environment is conducive to the learning process; intervene to control and modify disruptive behavior, reporting to appropriate administrator
• Utilize a variety of instructional materials and available multi-media and computer technology to enhance learning
• Manage allotted learning time to maximize student achievement
• Plan and deliver professional learning focused on learning experiences for students in innovative programming
• Maintain accurate and complete records of students' TDLR hours

• CTE teachers will be responsible for maintaining safety in classrooms
• Maintain accurate annual asset inventory reports
• Maintain timely and accurate budget and accountability reports
• Support and actively participate in CTE department facilitation of Enterprise Learning Lab as part of the program

• Communicate regularly with students on instructional expectations and keep them informed of their progress
• Ensure continuous communication with parents, both written and oral, to keep them informed of student(s) progress
• Request assistance and work with resource personnel to ensure student growth
• Collaborate with other professionals, including counselors and librarians, to carry out school-wide instructional or related activities
• Support and/or participate in school-wide student activities and social events and approved fund raising activities
• Assign work and supervise instructional assistants, parent, and student volunteers, as needed

• Actively participate in professional learning, staff development, in-service activities and staff meetings
• Ensure you are knowledgeable about and current in industry standards
• Maintain current certifications and licenses

• Associate's degree
• Bachelor's degree Preferred
• Valid Appropriate CTE Teaching Certification, issued by Texas Education Agency
• Valid TDLR Cosmetology Operator License – Must maintain current license
• Required Compliance Training
• Minimum of 2 years of wage earning work experience within the last 10 years. Qualifying field:
  Cosmetology
• Demonstrated knowledge of content, curriculum, methods, materials, and equipment of instructional specialty
• Demonstrated knowledge of appropriate technology equipment and software programs
• Proven ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional programs
• Ability to plan and implement lessons based on division and school objectives including the needs and abilities of students
