Job Overview
The Assistant Director of Early Childhood will provide leadership, management, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of the District's Early Childhood Programming, including operation, enrollment, staff recruitment and development, curriculum design and implementation, instruction, and professional development. The incumbent supports the team director in developing, monitoring, and improving district‑wide systems that ensure equitable access to early childhood programming for children across the district.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Leadership and Communication- Support and coordinate the design, planning, development, evaluation, maintenance, and expansion of the District’s Early Childhood Programming across the district according to state and federal requirements.
- Support the design, establishment, and maintenance of public‑private partnerships that expand early‑childhood educational opportunities to support recruitment and retention of children.
- Collaborate cross‑functionally with departments across the district to support, improve, and enhance early‑childhood programming and other district priorities.
- Compile and analyze programming data to generate quarterly and annual reporting to internal and external stakeholders and as needed.
- Respond promptly, consistently, and appropriately to the district’s internal and external stakeholders’ requests and concerns related to the department’s programming.
- Use multi‑platform district tools to gather data to create, design, improve, and disseminate communication pieces that inform, report, and highlight various aspects of the department’s programming.
- Lead campus administrators, staff, and faculty in supporting the implementation, conduct, and promotion of developmentally appropriate early‑childhood practices.
- Keep abreast of and synthesize current research and best practices by networking with other educational leaders.
- Direct improvement of instructional models and programs through observation, visitation, demonstration, and staff training.
- Coordinate and conduct presentations for district personnel, parents, and the community.
- Perform teacher observations to develop and implement appropriate professional development and support the instructional needs of the District’s Early Childhood Programs.
- Coordinate efforts and procedures for the creation, expansion, staffing, equipping, recruitment, enrollment, qualification, and placement of faculty/instructors and students in the Early Childhood Programs.
- Develop program handbooks, revise guidelines, and provide updates of the State and Federal guidelines in accordance with district, federal, and state regulations.
- Design and prepare proposals, budgets, reports, and grant applications, and evaluate data for fiscal audits and financial responsibilities of the Early Childhood Programs.
- Manage and coordinate any grants associated with Early Childhood to ensure compliance.
- Review documentation and data for program compliance and data integrity.
- Carry out supervisory responsibilities for instructional and non‑instructional staff of the assigned campus in accordance with the District’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; fostering collaboration and a positive climate; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

- Valid Texas Mid‑Management or Principal Certification preferred.
- Valid Teaching Certification issued by the Texas Education Agency appropriate to subject and grade level of assignment.
