Volunteer to Host a Foreign Exchange Student

Benefit from opening your home and heart to an exchange student for a term during the upcoming high school year by:

• Making life‑long friendship connections abroad
• Giving a young person an opportunity to immerse themselves in our American culture and your family
• Gaining an international son/daughter
• Gain new perspectives on our American way of life through the eyes of your exchange student

Choose from these ways to host: a few weeks as a short‑term Welcome Family, a semester, or a full school year. You do not need to have a child in high school. Couples, singles, empty‑nesters, and grandparents can host.

You may select the student(s) you wish to host by reviewing their profiles. Students are aged 15‑18 and have secured acceptance into the program.

This year’s exchange students come from Spain, France, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Japan, Czech Republic, Kazakhstan and more. They arrive with English fluency, travel medical insurance, and their own spending money.

Hosts are expected to provide a loving, caring environment, three meals per day, and a bedroom, which can be shared with a host sibling of the same gender aged 12 and up. Students will attend the local high school that your home is zoned for.
