Job Overview
Middle School: Head Director Theatre Arts ). The Teacher Director Theatre will collaborate with the Assistant Theatre Director to plan and implement a comprehensive instructional theatre program for the campus. The incumbent will coordinate, supervise, and manage all aspects of the program, including teaching theatre courses and managing its instructional plan. Some travel and prolonged or irregular work hours are required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Teaching and Learning- Implement, monitor, and maintain progress with group and individual instruction, rehearsals, and performances in coordination with the Assistant Theatre Director.
- Plan appropriate learning activities, determine materials, and implement an instructional program that provides an appropriate learning sequence, considering different learning styles and a range of abilities.
- Assess student achievement related to desired educational goals and outcomes and maintain assessment documentation for institutional and individual reporting.
- Manage allotted learning time to maximize student achievement.
- Manage the behavior of learners in the instructional setting to ensure a conducive learning environment; assist and participate in student behavior management school‑wide, both during and outside school hours; monitor and enforce compliance with the Fort Bend ISD Student/Parent Handbook and Student Code of Conduct.
- Ensure the classroom and instructional environment is attractive, healthful, safe, and conducive to learning and that materials are accessible and in good condition.
- Perform all duties assigned by campus administration and/or the Assistant Director of Fine Arts.
- Conduct practices outside the academic school day to prepare students for performances and contests in compliance with UIL/Thespian rules and regulations and established guidelines.
- Communicate continually with students about instructional expectations and keep them informed of their progress.
- Maintain continuous communication with parents, written and oral, to keep them informed of student progress.
- Comply with FBISD policies regarding fundraising, budget management, inventory and materials management, student travel, employee travel, private lessons, and submission of entry forms and fees by deadlines.
- Provide proper student supervision during and after all program activities until all students have left the area.
- Monitor and enforce student eligibility criteria for all extracurricular activities.
- Maintain professional conduct standards (Code of Ethics and Standard Practices for Texas Educators).
- Understand and uphold all rules, regulations, and dates pertaining to the theatre program (UIL, TxETA, Thespian, and FBISD policies).
- Participate in all appropriate UIL, Thespian, and FBISD‑sponsored events; encourage student participation in related competitions/events.
- Provide proper student supervision during and after all program activities until all students have left the area.
- Participate in in‑service, professional learning activities, and staff meetings as required, including those with the Assistant Director of Fine Arts.
- Support and assist feeder programs by attending activities/shows and offering reasonable assistance.

- Bachelor's Degree in Theatre, Theatre Education, or a related field.
- Master's Degree preferred.
- Valid Teaching Certification issued by the Texas Education Agency appropriate to subject and grade level of assignment.
- Theatre Certification.
- Minimum of 3 years of full‑time teaching experience preferred.
- Effective oral and written communication skills, including the ability to use social media effectively.
- Demonstrated proficiency of proper acting techniques in a variety of genres.
- Ability to interact appropriately with the public, district staff, and parents.
