Job Overview

The STEM Outclass teacher will implement an elementary STEM instructional program during the school day based on the district's written curriculum. The incumbent will provide a collaborative learning environment that utilizes technology. The incumbent will manage student behavior, assess and evaluate student achievement, and modify instructional activities as needed.

Position Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Provide a Collaborative Learning Environment
  • Manage allotted learning time to maximize student achievement
  • Plan appropriate instructional/learning strategies and activities including determination of appropriate kind and level of materials
  • Implement an instructional program which provides appropriate learning experiences, considering different learning styles and a range of learning curves
  • Manage student behavior in all parts of the school building and grounds, both during and outside of school hours, and in compliance with the Fort Bend ISD Student/Parent Handbook
  • Ensure continuous communication with parents, both written and orally, to keep them informed of student(s) progress and upcoming activities
  • Communicate regularly with students on instructional expectations keeping them informed of their progress
  • Ensure classroom and/or instructional environment is beneficial, healthful, safe, and conducive to learning while ensuring materials are accessible to students and in good condition
  • Support and participate in school wide student activities and social events and approved fund‑raising activities
  • As assigned or required, monitor student behavior in non‑instructional areas and intervene to control and modify disruptive behavior, reporting to appropriate administrator
Promote STEM Opportunities
  • Assess student abilities and achievement as related to the District's elementary STEM curriculum, as well as desired educational goals and outcomes
  • Integrate students' use of technology into inquiry‑based instructional lessons focused on the Technology Applications TEKS
  • Provide opportunities for families to engage in STEM activities
  • Maintain a current inventory of all STEM equipment and instructional materials
Perform Professional Responsibilities
  • Participate in staff development, in‑service activities and staff meetings
  • Understand and uphold all rules, regulations and dates that pertain to the instructional programs and FBISD policies
  • From time‑to‑time, collaborate with other professionals to carry out school‑wide instructional or related activities
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in elementary education
  • Master's degree preferred
  • Valid Teaching Certification Issued by Texas Education Agency appropriate to subject and grade level of assignment PK‑6, or has received statement of eligibility
  • Minimum of 3 years pre‑service teaching experience
  • Familiar with educational technology tools
  • Demonstrated knowledge of FBISD program of studies related to assignments and public school mission, goals and organization
  • Demonstrated knowledge of content, curriculum, methods, materials and equipment of instructional specialty(ies) to which assigned
  • Demonstrated knowledge of adolescent growth and development or, if applicable, adult learning theory
  • Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional programs
  • Ability to plan and implement lessons based on division and school objectives and the needs and abilities of students to whom assigned
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers and parents
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
