Job Overview
The Teacher Literacy Intervention (Bilingual) will provide focused literacy interventions to selected elementary students at the assigned campus. The incumbent will provide leadership and coaching to teachers on effective Spanish/Language Arts and Reading instruction as well as guidance to SLA teachers in utilizing effective reading practices within the classroom setting. This position will assist with assessing and evaluating student achievement, modify instructional activities as required, communicate student progress to classroom teachers, campus administrators and parents, and fulfill the duties required by the principal.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Provide intensive biliteracy intervention in Spanish and/or English to identified small groups of students using “pull-out” and “push-in” models
- Work collaboratively with teachers to deliver exemplary biliteracy instruction to students
- Use data to assist teachers identify and group students who need additional biliteracy supports
- Provide training and support through academic coaching, co‑teaching, lesson modeling, facilitating, etc. when working with the classroom teacher
- Participate in and lead ongoing and job-embedded professional development in the area of biliteracy
- Attend training for methods and strategies that improve general reading instruction and demonstrate best practices
- Participate in professional growth and development and stay abreast of current research through continuing education, campus/district-level professional developments and meetings, educational seminars, workshops, conferences, membership in professional organizations, etc

- Bachelor's degree
- Master's degree preferred
- Valid Texas Teacher Certification valid Texas Teacher elementary certification
- Valid Bilingual Certification valid Texas bilingual Spanish teaching certification
- Minimum of 5 years of teaching experience in Spanish/Language Arts or Reading at the elementary level
- Fluency in English and Spanish (proficiency in oral and written communication in both languages)
- Extensive knowledge and experience working with students who require reading and writing intervention
- Thorough understanding of reading and writing research, instructional strategies and language acquisition theories
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Ability to share expertise with peers while working with students and providing job-embedded professional development
- Leadership ability and experience in providing coaching and support to classroom teachers in the area of biliteracy
