The Project Engineer is responsible for the detailed engineering design of packaged equipment according to customer specifications, best engineering design practices, company and industry standards. The Project Engineer prepares, plans, coordinates, and monitors projects technical deliverables from conception to final completion. The role includes assembling and guiding a multi-discipline engineering team and ensuring project technical compliance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESinclude the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Assemble and lead a multidisciplinary engineering team.
- Collaborate with the Project Manager at project kick-off to maintain technical project scope.
- Confirm compliance between customer purchase order, specifications, and proposal.
- Coordinate and monitor all engineering activities through the full project lifecycle.
- Maintain all engineering deliverable schedules to satisfy customer requirements and contractual obligations.
- Design and prepare P&IDs, PFDs, equipment sizing calculations, GAs, instrumentation, and Bills of Materials.
- Conduct multidisciplinary engineering design review meetings and participate in customers’ project technical review meetings.
- Resolve technical discrepancies through ECR/ECN/ECO processes.
- Coordinate FATs with customers and internal operations teams.
- Provide technical support during installation, startup, and commissioning.
- Support proposal engineering with technical review and cost estimates.
- Lead technical risk assessments (HAZOP, FMEA) for engineered systems.
- Develop and validate detailed engineering calculations for mechanical, electrical, and control systems.
- Oversee technical integration of multi-vendor components and system interfaces.
- Review and approve vendor technical documentation and drawings.
- Provide engineering oversight during manufacturing, fabrication, and factory acceptance testing.
- Lead commissioning test plan development and technical troubleshooting.
- Adhere to company health and safety procedures.
- Strong knowledge of engineering design concepts and best practices.
- Proficiency in engineered piping systems, rotating equipment, valves, and instrumentation.
- Knowledge of fluid dynamics and system integration.
- Experience executing technical projects in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong organizational, leadership, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
- Competency with Windows-based engineering platforms.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Project; SAP experience a plus.
- Familiarity with ASME, AWWA, NEC/IEC, and industry code compliance.
- Experience with CAD tools for system modeling (e.g., Inventor, Solid Works, AutoCAD Plant 3D).
- Ability to perform and validate complex system calculations and simulations.
BS degree in Mechanical Engineering and at least 7 years of experience in Project Engineering in a manufacturing environment or an equivalent combination of education and experience
