The Field Solutions Engineer supports both field operations and strategic technology initiatives at Bechtel Equipment Operations (BEO), located in Sugar Land, TX. This role blends construction planning, automation, advanced work packaging, and innovation management. It is ideal for individuals developing technical, analytical, and coordination skills while driving operational efficiency and enhancing project delivery across manufacturing and technology domains.

Job Summary:

In this role, you will work on projects to coordinate workforce, material, and equipment requirements. You will set up and deploy project activities related to equipment, prepare field material requisitions, monitor fleet availability and usage, prepare reports and forecasts, and implement policies and procedures. Your work will help ensure quality, compliance, and safety of work, tools, and equipment. #LI-BH1

Major Responsibilities:
  • Preparing construction drawings, sketches, schedules, and installation work packages; supporting planning of construction methods, temporary facility design, and procedures; maintaining field documentation including daily progress reports, field changes, and as-built records; and contributing to cost estimates and reviewing bill of materials.
  • The role also involves performing quantity takeoffs, initiating requisitions, and coordinating material inspections, issuance, and storage; reviewing vendor and subcontractor submittals for compliance; managing deliveries and expediting; and tracking commodity usage and subcontractor progress for schedule and cost reporting.
  • Additional duties include promoting safe work practices and ensuring compliance with specifications, safety standards, and environmental requirements; assisting with inspections, test plans, non-conformance reports, and design change documentation; building and managing system and area turnover packages; coordinating walkdowns; maintaining punch list tracking; and ensuring completion of inspection records.
  • The Field Solutions Engineer analyzes business problems related to construction, automation, and information management; identifies and implements technology-driven solutions and process improvements; performs data analysis to uncover trends and opportunities for optimization.
Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Typically, a University Hire with a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Information Technology, or a related field less than 1 year of experience, or 4–5 years of relevant work experience.

Understanding of field engineering concepts, construction methodologies, and technical documentation; proficiency in automation software, digital tools, and information management systems; strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills; familiarity with safety and quality control practices, codes, and standards; ability to interpret engineering documents and coordinate constructability reviews; effective collaboration with cross-functional teams and stakeholders; interest in continuous learning and development.
