Partner with the best The Water Treatment Chemicals Technical Director and Global Platform Leader is responsible for defining and executing the global strategy for water treatment technologies and services across oil & gas upstream, downstream, and industrial markets. This role combines platform leadership with senior technology leadership to strengthen competitive differentiation, accelerate innovation, and drive return on technology investment. The successful candidate will be accountable for the overall health and growth of the water treatment platform, including strategic investment choices, technology roadmap development, go-to-market strategy support, and technical support for commercial deployment and operational execution.
As a Water Treatment Technical Director and Global Platform Leader for Downstream Chemicals, you will be responsible for:
- Owning the functional, business, and financial performance of the global water treatment portfolio across oil & gas upstream, downstream, and industrial markets, including production chemicals, process water, cooling water, boilers, wastewater, reuse, and related automation applications.
- Leading the global water treatment technology strategy, including long‑term roadmap development, portfolio prioritization, and investment planning aligned with customer needs, market trends, and regional growth opportunities.
- Serving as the senior technical leader for water treatment technologies by providing guidance on treatment chemistry, process performance, application engineering, and technology selection across diverse customer environments.
- Driving innovation through New Product Introduction (NPI), platform development, advanced technology programs, and productivity initiatives to improve customer outcomes, sustainability performance, and portfolio profitability.
- Leading stage‑gate product and technology development programs, including business cases, product requirements, validation plans, pilot programs, launch readiness, and supporting documentation for governance reviews.
- Translating market, competitive, and customer insights into differentiated product strategies, value propositions, and commercialization plans for both established and emerging water treatment solutions.
- Partnering with commercial, operations, supply chain, regulatory, and technology teams to scale products globally, ensure reliable supply, and deliver compliant, manufacturable, and cost‑effective solutions.
- Supporting complex customer opportunities by acting as a technical authority on water treatment applications, troubleshooting, performance optimization, and solution design for upstream, downstream, and industrial assets.
- Leading technology positioning for digital and automation‑enabled offerings that improve monitoring, control, asset protection, and performance optimization in water treatment programs.
- Representing the organization externally with customers, industry bodies, technical forums, and strategic partners to build credibility, identify collaboration opportunities, and strengthen market presence.
- Conducting all business activities in accordance with Baker Hughes Health, Safety, Environment, Legal Compliance, and Core Values requirements.
To be successful in this role you will:
- Have significant experience in industrial water treatment technologies, products, applications, and services across oil & gas upstream, downstream, and/or broader industrial markets, including cooling water, boilers, produced water, process water, wastewater, and reuse applications.
- Hold a bachelor's degree in engineering, chemistry, environmental science, or a related technical discipline; an advanced degree is preferred.
- Demonstrate substantial cross‑functional leadership experience spanning technology, product management, commercial, operations, and/or application engineering roles.
- Bring a strong understanding of water treatment chemistry, treatment processes, application performance, and the technical and commercial drivers of industrial customer programs.
