Position: Staff Accountant - #4651
Job Description

CLS is looking for an experienced Staff Accountant for on-site work in Sugar Land, TX. Under general supervision, this position will support various aspects of finance and accounting for the company.

Essential Duties and Responsibilitiesinclude but are not limited to:

  • Monthly Financial Review – variance analysis for multiple companies
  • Manage WIP accrual process
  • Liaison for 3rd party annual audit
  • Oversee Accounts Receivable/Accounts Payable/Daily Banking – Cash Projections
  • Coordinate Monthly Journal Entries for multiple organizations
  • Ensure compliance with month end closing schedule
  • Ensure accounting polices are adhered to at multiple companies
  • Create meaningful reports in ERP system
  • Responsible for overseeing balance sheet reconciliations on a monthly basis
  • Intercompany duties.
  • Must be an intermediate to advance user in Excel.
  • Prepare reports or direct preparation of reports summarizing current financial position, business activity and reports as required by various parties.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality of all financial and company records.

Accountability:

  • This position is responsible for working with all office staff, ensuring a healthy work environment and the satisfaction of all staff, both corporate and project.
  • Must be able to work effectively and professionally with internal and external customers, including clients, applicants, vendors and others.

Qualification Requirements(minimum and preferred requirements):
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Must be aCPA or CPA Candidate.
  • Must have 2-4+ years of experience with an accounting firm.
  • Must be willing to work on-site in Sugar Land, TX.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s (B.A.) degree in Accounting/Finance or related field from four-year college or university.

Experience:

  • Ability to provide accurate and efficient service under the stress of constant deadlines.
  • Ability to make administrative and procedural decisions and judgments.
  • Knowledge of economic and accounting principles and practices.

Licensing:

  • Must have valid driver’s license.
  • Must maintain minimum automobile liability insurance in the amount of $100,000/$300,000/$100,000.

Language Skills:

  • Requires strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to write clearly and concisely to prepare reports, specifications and correspondence.
  • Ability to read, analyze, interpret and properly apply knowledge gained from general business periodicals, contracts and company policy.
  • Ability to write basic reports and business correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of employees, managers, client and customers.

Mathematical Skills:

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, percentages and decimals.
  • Knowledge of general accounting principles.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions and percentages.

Reasoning Ability:

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.

Skills and Abilities

:

  • Intermediate computer skills and familiarity with general PC operation.
  • Intermediate software skills with Microsoft Office applications, with emphasis on Excel, Outlook and Word.
  • Familiarity and working knowledge of computerized accounting systems including billing, AR, and AP modules.
