We are looking for a motivated, analytical, and detail-oriented student to join our team as a Risk Management Intern.
This role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience supporting risk assessment, operational safety, insurance administration, and risk management initiatives within a petroleum refining and marketing and fertilizer manufacturing company.
You will work closely with cross functional teams, including Legal Services, Operations, HSE, Finance, and Maintenance to help identify, evaluate, and mitigate risks that impact on our people, assets, environment, and business continuity.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
* College students currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Risk Management (preferred), Business, Finance, Engineering, or Safety at an accredited College or University
* Cumulative GPA of at least a 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
* Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
* Solid written and verbal communication and presentation skills
* Technical skills in Microsoft Office Suite and other related platforms/systems
* Out of the box thinking, problem solving, relationship building and interpersonal skills
* Highly motivated, proactive, detail oriented with inherent organizational skills
* Fluent in English, oral and written required
MAJOR
ACCOUNTABILITIES
During the internship, you will assist the Risk Management team with:
* Adhering to company policies, procedures and rules governing professional staff behavior and appropriate handling of confidential information
* Supporting ongoing risk improvement initiatives, including business continuity planning, contractor risk evaluation, and process safety management alignment
* Conducting research and gathering information to support decision-making processes or project development
* Participating in hazard identification, incident trend analysis, and risk assessment activities across our various operations and business segments
* Preparing and presenting reports, presentations, or other deliverables, as assigned
* Engaging with insurance industry partners, insurance carrier meetings, and risk engineering property surveys
* Participating in cross‑departmental meetings and providing administrative support for risk management projects
* Completing weekly activity and status update reports
EXPECTED RESULTS
* Direct exposure to risk management practices within a refining and fertilizer manufacturing environment.
* Hands‑on experience working with risk, legal services, finance, safety, and operational professionals.
* Opportunities to participate in real-world risk assessments, incident reviews, and loss prevention efforts.
