Role SummaryThe City seeks a visionary, forward‑thinking leader to serve as its next Director of Finance. The Director reports to the Assistant City Manager/Chief Financial Officer and serves as a strategic partner to City executive leadership and City Council, shaping financial policy, ensuring fiscal transparency, guiding long‑term fiscal strategy, and maintaining the City’s continued financial strength and resilience.
Responsibilities- Serve as a strategic partner to City executive leadership and City Council, shaping financial policy and ensuring fiscal transparency.
- Guide long‑term fiscal strategy to maintain the City’s financial strength and resilience.
- Lead the City’s financial operations team, which includes accounting, purchasing, payroll, accounts payable, utility billing, investments, and municipal debt programs.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field from an accredited university.
- Master’s degree and/or CPA preferred.
- Minimum 10 years of progressively responsible experience in municipal finance, city management, or a closely related field, including at least 5 years supervising a significant finance‑related function and team.
- Certified Government Finance Officer (CGFO) or Certified Public Finance Official (CPFO) designation is a plus.
- Extensive knowledge of Governmental Accounting and Reporting (GAAP and GASB), experience in organizations with complex financial operations, and experience with highly functional ERP systems.
