Job Summary
The Supplemental Speech Pathologist is responsible for the evaluation and rehabilitation of patients of all ages with communication and oral‑pharyngeal disorders of functional or neurological origin to facilitate the development and maintenance of human communication and swallowing ability. The role involves documenting findings, monitoring progress, providing instruction to patients and caregivers, and collaborating with the clinical team to develop programs. The therapist serves as a resource and mentor, overseeing the training of assistants, students, interns, and rehabilitation technicians.
This position requires 2–3 weekend day shifts (Saturday and/or Sunday) per month, hours 8 am–4:30 pm, with competency in MBS and a preference for at least 2 years of acute‑care experience.
- Graduate of an accredited university‑based Speech/Language Pathology program with a Master’s degree.
- Current Texas license to practice Speech/Language Pathology; ASHA certification preferred.
- Minimum 1 year of experience (2+ years acute‑care preferred).< /li>
- Experience mentoring, training staff, or supervising clinical interns.
- Clinical leadership for specific patient types or programs, and ability to design staff development initiatives.
- Physical ability to lift up to 30 lb, stand, walk, stoop, and squat; fine hand dexterity, eye‑hand coordination, and clear oral/written communication skills.
- Ability to commit to the required schedule and demonstrate partnership with the "Partners‑in‑Caring" process.
