The Surgery Scheduler position requires a person who is creative and flexible and can develop cooperative bonds with surgeon’s offices to achieve maximum utilization of the Hospital.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Schedules all surgical procedures and radiology procedures.

Obtains and enters all necessary information from surgeon or scheduler requesting OR time.

Is aware of instruments and equipment limitations of the department.

Communicates with BOM/ORManager regarding managing block time.

Allows adequate time for each procedure according to physician request.

Allows adequate time for room turnover.

Attempts to schedule similar types of cases in the same room to increase efficiency.

Communicates special equipment, instrument, supply, and staffing requests to the OR Director.

Proofreads and edits all surgery schedules before distributing.

Contact surgeon’s offices two days prior to schedule to confirm surgical times and procedures.

Manage multiple phone lines.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

High school education
One year scheduling experience
Knowledge of medical terminology preferred
Strong computer skills
Core competency completed:

Highly effective communicator and extremely organized

Pleasant phone and interpersonal skills

Must appropriately handle sensitive and confidential information

Flexible, reliable, productive, patient oriented, and self motivated

Able to work 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM and be flexible when needed
